EVENT: Understanding the novel Wuhan coronavirus outbreak with data science - Sunday 9th February

The unhackathon was cancelled by the rampaging coronavirus, but it’s been replaced by an online workshop about it! And that also means it’s FREE!

Join us 12 noon to 1:30pm this Sunday February 9th here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcRu_oHCEFQ

You can comment along, asking questions which we will try to answer.

Current rundown:

Noon: Dr. Guy Freeman will talk about gathering online data for one’s own purposes, e.g. the number of cases over time, or search volumes of certain terms.

12:30pm: Dr. Scott Edmunds will talk about the sequencing data, what is available and how to analyse and understand, e.g., nextstrain.

1pm: Professor Ben Cowling will talk about the data and calculations behind measuring the transmission dynamics of 2019-nCoV that were used to write this NEJM paper: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2001316

As I have your attention… Let’s share some of the data sources we’ll consider:

The government probably got jealous of vote4.hk and made a similar dashboard to the John Hopkins one: https://chp-dashboard.geodata.gov.hk/covid-19/en.html

There are a lot more arcgis-based covid-19 dashboards here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/a1746ada9bff48c09ef76e5a788b5910

Thanks for the awesome workshop!
Seems like JHU no longer updates the google sheet. Instead they will upload to https://github.com/CSSEGISandData/COVID-19/tree/master/csse_covid_19_data/csse_covid_19_time_series
Hope this helps

Thank you for the update! I was distracted away from this!

Are you analysing the data too? @camilleko
